Monday Motivation- May 8, 2023
I started this morning off by meditating on Friendship, and how important it is to life. Friends truly are the family we get to choose. There have been some tough times in my life that I don't know how I would have made it without the support of my wonderful group of friends, surrounding me and having my back no matter what. On the other side, I have friends that will call me out when I'm going down the wrong path, and I can't thank them enough for their clear sight and honesty!
I hope you are blessed to have a great support team. If not, consider reaching out to like-minded groups. I've made many friends through various interests (book clubs, library, exercise, church, etc.). Getting the right people on your team is the best place to start! :)

I love this quote by Charles Dickens (my favorite classic author) because it reminds me to redirect my thoughts from what I have lost to what I still have and have gained. 💝
One fun Thanksgiving activity I've been doing for a few years is creating a Gratitude List everyday the week of Thanksgiving. In my journal, I make a list of ten to fifteen things that I am grateful for and that bring joy to my life. It doesn't have to be different things each day (ex. I list my pets everyday lol), but it can include something great that happened that day. I like to do this right before bed, because it helps me take my mind off the holiday stress and focus on the positive right before I fall asleep.
Stay positive this week! :)

This quote is one of my favorites. Whether you are happy or sad, laughter and a good sense of humor will take you far. Times can be so hard, especially when we are facing challenging times like this year has been, but never let the darkness in the world destroy your smile. Remember to smile, laugh, and embrace joy!

Monday Motivation- September 28th, 2020
Good Afternoon,
Let's face it, 2020 has been a real bummer of a year for almost everyone. It's been tough on a global and personal level for everyone I know. It's been a challenge whether you are suffering the loss of a loved one, ill with COVID, dealing with an unstable work situation, or any other of the myriad of problems 2020 has dropped in our laps.
That's all the bad stuff. Even in bad times, there is still hope.
The silver lining is that these are the times, these trying times when we don't want to take another step, that make us stronger. That will shape us into our future selves. We don't have to let ourselves be defined by hard times, we can approach them like a fire that refines us into a better version of ourselves.
I've really been digging in with self-help books to pull through this year. Here are a few fantastic and encouraging reads I've discovered:
I, UNICORN: Use Quarantine to Get Enlightened NOW by Natasha Ewendt (I was fortunate enough to get to talk to this super cool author! :) Check out her Facebook page! )
I hope that these books give you the much-needed inspiration and motivation you need to push through this last quarter of the year!
Stay Strong!

Happy Monday!
What a crazy time we are living in. I am back after a few months off, dealing with some issues that have come up. It's been a hard year for everyone, but the most important thing is to keep going. Try to hold on to positivity. Be persistent. Be kind to others, because we are all in a new and scary situation!
Today's motivation quote is a Japanese proverb that I love. I really believe the key to life is in never giving up. Yes, you will fall or get knocked down a few times, but never stay down.
Take care and stay safe!

Off the Shelf: I, UNICORN: Use Quarantine to Get Enlightened NOW by Natasha Ewendt
I was fortunate enough to receive a copy of I, Unicorn to review, and I am so glad Natasha reached out to me! Unlike most books on meditation and mindfulness, this book was so much fun to read. This book a meditation crash course, designed to help those of us struggling with the overwhelming stress (note: it doesn't have to be overwhelming!) of the current pandemic. This book really points out the silver lining of this epidemic, which is that it gives us some much needed time to slow things down and work on ourselves in ways that will benefit us on a much deeper level than the Netflix binges that we may have been indulging in (guilty!). But instead of coming across as somber and preachy, the author is hilarious. This is a rare treat in books on meditation :). The terms used are hilarious, and the basics are explained in an easy-to-understand way that is perfect for beginners. I highly recommend this for anyone who is interested in getting into meditation and mindfulness. You will not be disappointed!
Get this book and enjoy it! Meanwhile, I'm going to go meditate. :)

This C. S. Lewis quote is a comfort during these turbulent times, as it reminds us that nothing lasts forever, not even the bad times. This too shall pass! Hang in there, friends.
